Developers

I hope that this Tuesday finds you all well. Today's subject is near and dear to my heart. Without good java developers, you might as well forget trying to modify any information in the iStore.

It is important to have a good working relationship with the people that are in charge of your code. Sometimes, relationships can be difficult. In our personal life, they can be a challenge too. These are the people you see on a daily basis and sometimes you see them more than your own family.

I try hard to keep a positive approach and do my best to attempt to present material or requests in a "technical" friendly manner. This is not always possible, but helpful. An example would be "I need a column heading changed on the iStore shopping cart page - to "Can we change the text Your Shopping Cart on the ibeCScdViewA.jsp? page?"

They seem to be more engaged with this type of communication.

This is my thought for the day
Have a great one.

How we use iStore....

It might be helpful to know what we use the Oracle iStore product for. We currently use it in the B2C and the B2B capacity.

There are some functional features missing in the B2C store as compared to the B2B store. One such item is Direct Item Entry. If you have a B2C customer that returns, they are unable to use the Direct Item Entry feature to place their order - they still must navigate the catalog and choose their product to add to the shopping cart.

B2C customers cannot save their shopping carts or create shopping lists either.

Seems strange that these features were not carried over. I have often pondered why Oracle did not include this on the B2C stores. Once it was created, seems like a small step to include it.

Not much for today, but wanted to give you all a little something to read.

Have a great day!

Customer Facing - Welcome Bin: Account

Well, we learned something new today. Sometimes we have customers that purchase other customers or change their business name.

Did you know that the Account name that appears in the seeded right hand Welcome bin pulls from the Order Management>Customer Standard>Account Name field and not the Name field? If the administrative persons changes the Name and does not change the Account name to match - the Web user will end up seeing the wrong name on the Welcome bin (if the bin has not been customized).

This might create a negative impression of your Store.

Small tidbit for today - have a great one!

In the beginning.....

Today is the first day of this new blog. I developed this because there seems to be a general lack of ability to find people that use this product and can help each other with problems unique to it.

I want to be the expert. I want to help others become experts. We can help each other grow and learn from our mistakes and our achievements.

Join me in creating a world-class experience for Functional iStore developers. We manage many tasks to achieve the results that put our customers first.

Welcome to the Blog.
